Join us to Take Back the Night

April 19th, 2018

TAKE BACK THE NIGHT RALLY & MARCH
We have started planning for the 29th Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Take Back the Night event to bring awareness of the ongoing problems of sexual violence in our community.  Join us on April 19, 2018 to become part of the solution, part of the end to sexual violence.

SHATTER THE SILENCE, SPEAK OUT
An Open Mic opportunity to let your voice be heard in speaking out about sexual violence. *Please respect participants during Speak Out by NOT filming/audio recording at that time.

CANDLELIGHT VIGIL
Candles will be passed out during the speak out.  MUSE Cincinnati's Women's Choir will sing while candles are lighted.  We will take a moment of silence to remember the lives lost to violence.

THE CLOTHESLINE PROJECT
The Clothesline Project is a visual display that bears witness to the violence against men, women, and children. Survivors of violence decorate shirts in triumph over their experiences.  Friends & Family of victims who have died because of violence decorate shirts in memory of their loved one.  We display the shirts to educate our community about the effects of violence.

The shirts are color coded to show the form of abuse and whether the victim survived.

  • White – Violence resulted in death
  • Yellow/Beige – Battered/Assaulted
  • Red/Pink/Orange – Rape/Sexual Assault
  • Blue/Green – Incest/Childhood Sexual Abuse
  • Purple/Lavender – Homophobic/Transphobic Sexual Assault
  • Black – Politically Motivated Assault
